Melodies

Main Contents

The main contents of this app are from the book "Collection of Monophonic Solfeggi" written by Russian composer and music theorist, Nikolay Ladukhin (1860-1918). The book consists of 140 melodies, and the app includes all the melodies in the book with piano accompaniment arranged by the developer.
Nikolay Mikhailovich Ladukhin studied music theory at the Moscow Conservatoire under Sergei Taneyev. Later he taught solfeggio and harmony at the conservatoire as a professor. He is the author of a number of compositions. As a theorist and pedagogue, the collections of solfeggios written by him are also successfully used in education today.

Extra Contents

There are another 140 melodies as extra contents which are composed by various great composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Fanny Mendelssohn, Clara Schumann, Gabriel Fauré, Hugo Wolf, Claude Debussy and so on. (Song List) (The extra contents are available as In-App Purchase.) The melodies have been selected based on the following criteria.

  1. Divide melodies into groups by key signatures.
  2. Divide composers into eras: baroque, classical, early romantic, late romantic, and post-romantic, and make each key signature group include composers from each era.
  3. Each group includes at least one melody composed by a female composer.
  4. Melodies should be less than 3 minutes in length.

As the process of collecting melodies progressed, the developer got to know so many great female composers such as Fanny Mendelssohn, etc. and the third rule became no longer necessary.
